Principles of Permaculture

The concept of permaculture is a relatively new concept to modern agriculture, but it’s fast-gaining momentum as the go-to method of sustainability and saving Mother Earth.  It’s the idea of developing ecosystems that are sustainable and self sufficient, ie having one a piece of land that can fully feed and sustain a group of people.

The 3 core principals of permaculture that create it overall vision are: Earth care, People care, and Fair share. What these basically means is that when you care for the earth while looking out for your fellow community, everyone will have their fair share. Through the principles and practices of permaculture, waste is minimized, production output is increased, resources are re-used, re-engineered and re-applied, integration and diversity are created, and a sustained balance can be brought about between man and nature.

The global impact of permaculture stems from a change in how we look after and treat our planet. We only have one, and I believe that this is the instrument that can bring an immense and positive change to the environment as well as the lives of the people living within it.  Here are interesting facts about the growth of allotment gardens in recent years to give you some better insight.    [Via]
