What “Self Care” Actually Means

All about self care

There was a time not long ago when I cluttered my schedule with a bunch of stuff to do. It was so tight that so frequently I forgot to save time for…you know, lunch! So I usually ended up having lunch while working, or working while having lunch…I still don’t know what that was.

Anyway, modern times encourage us to do things faster, to do tons of stuff at the same time, to become productive in a world where everything and everyone is always available…everywhere! We really, really need to learn how to slow down a little bit. We all need to promote self-care to ourselves if we want to have more life in our lives.

Self-care might mean different things for different people, but the most important thing to take in mind is that self-care is not a one-time event that will magically relieve all your stress so you can go back for another beating! Self-care is actually a routine activity or set of activities that can help you to unwind, relax, and unclutter yourself from all the stresses from everyday life.

Have a look at this infographic and ask yourself if you’re usually rested enough, if you’re eating well, and how much time are you getting for yourself. Then ask yourself if the activities you’re doing during your leisure time are actually helping you to unclutter yourself, or are these adding more stress into your already stressful schedule.

Seriously, give up social media and pick one or more of the activities found in this list, and see your life improving a whole lot!
