18 Concept Cars We Never Lived Up To

Yesterday’s Concept Cars

In past generations, it seems that hopes were extremely high for the future of automobiles. So high, in fact, they might be disappointed with the progress we’ve made in 2021.

Today’s infographic takes a look at some of the craziest concept cars to ever grace car producers’ imaginations. I am not exaggerating when I say that some of these cars look like something out of a science fiction movie. While we weren’t able to reach the high expectations set by past generations, it would honestly be pretty hard to do this.

For instance, look at the 1930’s Dynasphere. Inspired by a Leonardo da Vinci sketch, this circular automobile clocked in at 2.5 horsepower and looks like something from an alternate reality.

Another one of my favorites is the “Linrrican Wonder”. This was a self-driving car directed via radio by another car. Self-driving cars aren’t even the norm now, so you’ll be surprised to learn that this concept was proposed all the way back in 1925, almost 100 years ago!

The most recent vehicle on this list is the Mercedes-Benz F 015 Luxury in Motion. This car is completely autonomous, with a touchscreen interior and hybrid engine, and its release is envisioned for the 2030s. This is far from the first autonomous car ever proposed, as you can see in the rest of the infographic.
