Examining Bleacher Report’s NBA Coverage

Is it really LeBron Report?

In the world of sports, one of the largest sources of information and highlights is the website, Bleacher Report. Today, we take a closer look at their social media presence on Instagram.

Today’s infographic was created not by a big-time website, but by a humble Reddit user named ‘u/aquavoss’. In the background section of this infographic, u/aquavoss explained that many NBA fans have nicknamed Bleacher Report “LeBron Report” or “Zion Report”, and he decided to see if this was actually true. This user analyzed all 1,385 NBA posts made by the Bleacher Report Instagram page during the 2019-20 season.

The results are quite telling. As it turns out, “LeBron Report” might be an accurate moniker for Bleacher Report. Both LeBron James and his team, the Los Angeles Lakers stand firmly in first place for posts about players and teams, respectively.

Another takeaway is that ‘The Zion Effect’ (as some would call it) truly seems to be a real thing. The otherwise small-market New Orleans Pelicans sit as the fourth most posted team on the page, while Zion Williamson–a rookie who didn’t even play a whole season–sits as the ninth most posted player on the page. In a league of 500-600+ players, it’s quite impressive how a first-year player can make such waves.

There are plenty of other interesting takeaways from this infographic, so be sure to look at the rest for yourself!
