Fun Facts You Didn’t Know About Easter

Facts about how Easter is celebrated around the world

When you think of Easter, does it bring up images of chocolate bunnies, pastel-colored eggs, sweet marshmallow candy, or all of the above? Or maybe it brings to mind something completely different? Depending on where or how you grew up, you may not even recognize any of these Easter traditions.

There are many traditions that surround this holiday nowadays, and they can vary by region and culture. While some remain similar, there are also traditions that are entirely different from what many know.

While in the United States, marshmallow peeps in baskets are one of the most popular Easter treats, it is much different around the globe. In Poland, rather than eating candy, they have a tradition that is a little less sugary. People instead use water guns and other devices to drench each other with water. Over in Germany, instead of hiding eggs around the house or on the lawn, they hide their Easter eggs in trees!

For kids, candy is the best part of Easter. In some countries that may mean a mean Cadbury Creme Eggs, while in others it could mean Toblerone Swiss Chocolate Bars. If you’d like to learn more about Easter candy, see this infographic about Easter by the numbers.
