Just How Contagious Is Coronavirus?

A comparison of coronavirus and other diseases in terms of contagiousness

When it comes to contagious diseases, there is a lot of misinformation out there. When people begin to panic it only makes things worse, and many of the facts get lost in a sea of myths. When everyone first began hearing about the coronavirus outbreak, one of the biggest questions people wonder is “how contagious is it?”

Truthfully, scientists don’t know fully just how contagious or deadly coronavirus is. However they have a start and they’ve compared it to other outbreak diseases, and also some common ones we have heard about and have even probably experienced ourselves.

We know that coronavirus can be spread from human to human, but just how contagious is it? To put it in perspective, it’s most comparable to norovirus in terms of contagiousness. Coronavirus is more contagious than the seasonal flu, but it is much less contagious than the measles by a lot. Someone with coronavirus can transmit it from 1.4 to 2.5 other people, but this can always change depending on new research and evidence.
