How Women In Leadership Are Breaking Barriers

Women as Strong Leaders in the Workplace

With the turn of the decade, female leadership is on the rise. We’ve all witnessed the culmination of feminist activists, fights for equality, and assertion of will through nationwide movements and social media. There has been a galvanizing push to encourage more women to strive for business positions that history has made exclusively for men. Breaking through the hindering barriers set upon us from society whilst simultaneously trying to elevate people of diversity has been a constant battle. Although 2019 seems to have been a powerful year for women fighting for their rights, some people are left wondering why we should be continuing to reach gender parity. Have our efforts been working?

This leads to even more questions, such as: “Why it is important for women to take charge” and “Why should businesses grasp a more inclusive philosophy?”

Well firstly, to quote the Declaration of Sentiments,

“We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men and women are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness…”

It’s delightful to live in a day and age where women are striving to be considered as equals. Finally, women are getting the recognition and respect that we have been denied in the past thousands of years. It’s important for the future generation of girls to know that women can indeed take charge of their own futures and fight through the discrimination that threatens to box them in.

On a more analytical note, various studies and surveys have suggested that companies who take the intelligent approach of providing a fair and diverse workspace are more likely to become successful. The reason for this is simple: More diversity results in more perspectives. In conjunction with this, it has been shown that a higher increase in women leads to more positive organizational outcomes for both women and men in corporate jobs.

Through some fascinating statistical analysis, we are able to show the exact percentage at which women leadership is growing, how the salary gap between men and women is closing, and the promotion of impartiality to sex. The past few years have brought about a fantastic uprising of women in different fields, from high business positions in corporate jobs to political involvement. We are nowhere near a perfect balance, but progress is at hand.
