The History of Voice Over

History of Voice Over

I don’t know about you, but I am not ready for today. All Monday means to me is the expiration of fun fun fun. If you don’t know this weekend was Fun Fun Fun Fest (a music festival) here in Austin and it was pretty damn awesome one this year. Featuring acts such as Public Enemy, Childish Gambino, Slayer, Mates of States and several others. I spent the last half of yesterday listening and watching Baths, Del the Funky Homosapien, Flying Lotus, Diplo, only to be capped off by Odd Future. Needless to say this weekend was a blast and full of some really good music, for me at least. Not to mention the Longhorns beat the crap out of those Raiders this weekend as well.

Now that I have thoroughly bored you with my personal stories lets take a look at today’s infographic, The History of Voice Over. In less than 150 years voice over has gone from Edouard-Leon Scott recording a “phono-authograph” to the present where we have organizations of accredited voice over actors. If it wasn’t for voice over can you imagine how boring our video games and cartoons would be? Not to mention things like the radio or the ever awesome narration of Ron Howard on Arrested Development, would not exist. Hope you enjoy today’s infographic! [voice actor Scott Reyns]
