Leaving your packing until the last minute for a trip is bad enough, but when you’re moving house it’s a nightmare. Sure, there are lots of things that you need every day that you can’t pack up early – pots and pans, utensils, underwear – but there are certainly some that you can. Decorative items, out-of-season clothing, and books you’re not currently reading can all be boxed up a few months before the move with any serious inconvenience. Donating or selling excess clothes and household goods is an excellent thing to do early, since all that stuff won’t be in the way of your serious packing later. Moving is a wonderful impetus to re-examine the objects you own and decide if you really want them around, and you can keep doing it throughout the entire move.

If you’re moving, chances are you’ll need to change your address. Let our Guide to Changing Your Address infograpic help you out with that messy process.
