Before I read this infographic, if you had walked up to me on the street and told me that Apple is the biggest camera manufacturer I would have slapped you. Nikon and Canon are the two powerhouses when it comes to cameras: Nikon has fantastic lenses and Canon makes great camera bodies. However, more and more photos are being taken with iPhones these days, and why not? They offer a five megapixel resolution, five times digital zoom, autofocus, and a flash (on the iPhone 4). What more could your average photographer ask for? Five megapixels is nothing to laugh at either- my Nikon D50 only offers six and it is a DSLR (one of those fancy ones that you can change the lenses on). For an iPhone DSLR comparison click here.
The convenience of the iPhone has the quality of Nikons and Canons so far beat that at one point it was the most popular camera used to post on Flickr. The iPhone also offers many apps to enhance your photos without much work on your part. What once required a whole different type of camera can now be done using the 360 Panorama app. The 360 Panorama app actually takes several photos and stitches them together in real time. No longer do you have to learn about aperture, or the right lens, or lighting- the iPhone provides you with all the apps needed to do those things for you. However, if you are truly interested in photography I would recommend using a real camera, not the one built into your iPhone. [via]
