The Movie Reboot and Remake Revolution

Movie Reboot and Remake Revolution Infographic

I love movies. And I actually enjoy when movies get remade or rebooted, unlike a lot of people I know. These movies might not always be the same quality as the original, but the storyline is still good – at least in most cases.

I was super excited when I heard a remake of Annie was going to be released last year. Naturally, it wasn’t as good as the original, but I thought it was still pretty awesome. Being the Annie expert that I am, I know there was actually a made-for-TV Disney remake between the two listed here.

Now, remakes and reboots are different. A remake is pretty much the same story, but with a few changes, such as a new cast. Think Footloose. (Which I loved, by the way). On the other hand, a reboot usually has the same characters, but that’s usually where the similarities end. Reboots happen a lot with movies based on comics, like the Batman franchise.

Today’s infographic shows a timeline of reboots, remakes and sequels of some popular movies and franchises in the last 40 years. It’s color-coordinated to show the originals vs. the reboots, along with their sequels. It also has some prequels and delayed sequels, like the new Jurassic Park movie coming out this year. And don’t forget to check out the movies that are in-development. Some will be remakes, some will be sequels, and some will be reboots. I will be checking out all of them.
