Play during important times

With all that is going on around us in this day and age, it is important to remember to both play and laugh whenever we get a chance to.

Today’s infographic covers very basic things that we tend to overlook: play and laughter. During stressful times or times of crisis, it is vital to both play and laugh for countless reasons, but this is especially true for children. Thankfully, many of these reasons are included in this infographic–twenty-nine of them in fact!

This infographic presents a combination of informative facts, data fetched from studies, and quotes from renounced scholars, authors, etc. The one thing they all have in common is how they stress the importance of play and laughter during troubling or stressful times. Take it from the International Play Association, which stated that, “During times of crisis, play has a significant therapeutic role helping children recover a sense of normalcy and joy.”

If this isn’t enough to convince you, you should know that for all ages, playing and having fun can trigger the release of endorphins, the natural ‘feel-good’ chemical of the human body. This promotes an overall sense of well-being and peace even in the face of a crisis and stress.
