See How Families Around The Country Handle This Dreaded Chore

Modern Family Cleanup

Washing dishes is awful. There’s no way around it. If you claim to find dishwashing calming, I immediately don’t trust you. One of the worst things about being an adult is rolling up your sleeves and dealing with a sink full of dirty plates and silverware.

So since we all are stuck doing dishes, how do our routines differ? Nearly 80% of Americans wash dishes at least once a day, and people send an average of 23 minutes a day washing dishes. That’s 5.8 days a year, which is pretty intense.

Only 1 in 5 Americans say “doing dishes” is the worst chore, which surprised me. I thought the number would be much higher. Also worth considering: Women wish their partners would help them take care of the dishes every day.

You’d think the modern dishwasher would be the cure-all to help alleviate the pain of this chore, but nearly 2 in 5 people have to rewash dishes after they come out of the dishwasher.

I’m desperate for The Jetsons to become reality, but until that happens, I’m going to take a lesson from our post that shares 15 cleaning hacks.
