Best Cities for A College Road Trip Mapped

With winter break quickly approaching, it’s time to start planning where to go for a relaxing vacation.

Busbud mapped the top 20 cities for college students based on a number of factors. Because students are often on tight budgets, the map shows cities with cheap gas and beer, and inexpensive lodging and food. It’s always a total bummer to go on vacation and have it rain the whole time, so keep these places in mind: It’s sunny in many of these cities year round.

Surprisingly, not many popular tourist cities make the list. New Orleans and Los Angeles are good options for students, but Columbus and El Paso are also suggested.

Be sure to check out the Lone Star State: While it’s not anyone’s first thought for a glamorous vacation, four of the top 20 cities are in Texas. The Southeast and Southwest also have a lot of great spots for students, with the Northwest and Midwest having almost nothing.

What do you have to lose? It’s time to pack your bags and get driving. Before you stuff your suitcase, make sure you look at this infographic with tips for packing well.
