13 cooking tips to save time in the kitchen

What do you do when the only ingredient you’re out of is time? Let these 13 cooking tips save you a little of that precious resource.

The freezer is your friend. It’s great for leftovers, sure, but it’s also perfect for keeping homemade ready meals like you’d buy in a package from the grocery store, or pre-cooked ingredients like rice and beans to add to freshly cooked ingredients for dinner, or even herbcubes.

If oatmeal is your thing and you have a good few mouths to feed, you can put steel cut or rolled oats (which are both way cheaper than instant) in a crock pot with an appropriate amount of water and leave it on the “warm” setting overnight and in the morning you’ll have a batch of oatmeal ready to go. Throw in some maple syrup, honey, or brown sugar and you’re done. Or, if you’re the scum of the earth, rasins.
