Play Ball!

Baseball games are my favorite sporting events to attend. Since I grew up in Texas, I am a Rangers fan and loved going to Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Not only because of the game itself, but the atmosphere is like nothing else. The Star Spangled Banner gives me chills, “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” brings back nostalgia, the long red liquorice sticks that taste like medicine, the wave that goes on for at least 5 minutes, and of course there is always some crazy old man yelling “Hot Dogs!”.

I remember thinking that it was odd that the “The Dot Game” never died at the baseball games I attended. If you don’t know what the Dot Game is, I will explain: Everyone in the audience is given a little piece of paper with a red, blue, green, or yellow dot printer on it. When the time came, the giant TV would would show a race track with all the colored dots racing against each other. If your color won, then you got a free Whataburger or something. I will admit that as a child, I found this part of the game much more entertaining than the sport itself. Sorry Juan Gonzalez!
