Why British Are The Best Grand Prix Racers

According to this infographic, the British are the best at virtually everything there is to be good at in the world of Grand Prix racing. They make better cars than anyone else. They win more races than anyone else. They have more championship points than anyone else. They even have more live coverage of Grand Prix races than anyone else. This isn’t just a favorite British pastime we are talking about here, Formula One is a serious sport to people all over the world. In fact, Americans contributed the same percentage of drivers to the Grand Prix as the British. However, Britain has won seven times more championships.

Last November, Austin, Texas (my home town) became the new destination for the Circuit of the Americas Grand Prix. With an inaugural crowd of 117,429 Formula One fans and a total of 265,000 fans in attendance over the course of the three-day race weekend, the turnout was the second highest attendance of any Formula One race in the 2012 season. Austin is an ideal spot for the Grand Prix festivities and was very pleased by this turnout, but it is unlikely that it will ever be the destination with the greatest fan attendance. Any guesses as to who might have had the highest turnout last year? The British Grand Prix at Silverstone, of course!
